Enhancements to the ‘PASA’ widget in ez2view for the v9.9.3.351 Transition Release

The PASA widget has been updated to account for procedural changes that have occurred over the last few years that:

  • were missed in this widget
  • though the new data sets were added into the ‘Trends Engine’ at the time.

There’s details on both of these below:

 

Changes to the ‘MT PASA’ processes, and data sets

The MTPASA process changed in 2018.

Following these changes, it is now not broken down into a Reliability run and a Loss of Load probability (LOLP) run the outputs of these runs are now output into new tables.

The AEMO notes here the following:

‘The MT PASA Reliability Run implements the reliability standard by assessing the level of unserved energy and evaluating the likelihood of reliability standard breaches through probabilistic modelling. The Reliability Run is conducted weekly.’

‘To determine days most at risk of load shedding, AEMO conducts a LOLP assessment for each day
in the two-year horizon, assuming that weather conditions associated with high demand and/or
low VRE generation availability were to occur on that day.’

The different outputs are now available in the new selections available in the PASA widget

  • MtPasa Region Result
  • MtPasa Interconnector Result
  • MtPasa LOLP [Region]
  • MtPasa Yearly/Monthly (POE10) [Region]
  • MtPasa Yearly/Monthly (POE50) [Region]

With these changes the previous process was discontinued and therefore have been removed from the PASA widget

  • MtPasa Soultion (Outage LRC)
  • MtPasa Soultion (Reliability LRC)
  • MtPasa Soultion (Reliability MSR MUR)

Changes to the ‘ST PASA’ processes, and data sets

With respect to ST PASA, there’s three changes to note:

 

Changes in September 2020

As noted by the AEMO here, in September 2020 STPASA had new columns and a new Run type (LOR) added

Changes in October 2021

Then in relation to the WDR changes in EMMS v5.1 the following columns where also added in October 2021

All these fields are now available in the PASA widget for any region STPASA run.

 

Future Changes…

Further STPASA changes are on the horizon being referred to as the STPASA replacement project that we are watching and we will look to add them to this widget when they hit production
